We want to thank you for having an interest in our program.  We think it only fitting to share a few items 
       of interest with you, items that will tell you a little about us.  
 

       We are entering our sixth season as a girls & boys volleyball club registered with the Southern California 
       Volleyball Association (SCVA) with a staff of well-trained coaches and administrators working hard behind
       behind the scenes.
  

       MISSION
STATEMENT:

       The goal of Protégé Volleyball Club is to provide excellent training, which will give our players the 
       opportunity to access a higher education through the sport of volleyball. Although we believe in the 
       value of winning accolades and championships, our main focus is to develop the moral and physical 
       character of each individual. Among the attributes we value are discipline, dedication, hard work, 
       integrity, respect and volleyball skills in each player.  By maintaining a steadfast commitment to our 
       focus of developing sound moral character and strong physical skills in the individual, we strive to achieve 
       our desired goal.

       OPERATION:

       Protégé Volleyball Club is recognized as a non-profit organization with the Internal Revenue Service and 
       a non-profit corporation with the State of California which
is governed by a board of directors.                              Officers of the board meet throughout the year.

     

         TEAM COMPOSITION:

       In the fall of each year  Protégé Volleyball Club holds tryouts for ages 10 through 18 for boys and 8 thru 
       18 for girls.  Boys teams could be any combination of 14 & under, 16 & under, and/or 18 & under.  Girls 
       teams could be any combination of 10 & under, 12 & under, 13 & under, 14 & under, 15 & under, 16 & under,
       17 & under, and 18 & under.  The number of players registering at tryouts will determine how many
       teams and what age groups there will be.  The 10 & under teams will consist of girls age 7-9.

        SELECTION CRITERIA:
 
       
       Participants are grouped into proper age divisions established by SCVA. During the tryouts the participants 
       will be given instruction on technique and skill and also tested in areas for different measurements.  Some 
       attributes the coaches look for are attitude, leadership, strength, technique/skill, and game sense.

       PRACTICES & PLAYING SEASON:

       Practices for all teams will be twice a week.  All teams will participate in the SCVA tournaments, which 
       consist of:
       BOYS:    Optionals, Point tournaments, Boys Holiday Classic, Boys Invitational, and Jr. Boys 
Classic at 
                   the end of the season. Practices for 16s & 18 will start in October and the tournament season 
                   starts November.  Practices for 14s will start in November and the tournament season starts 
                   in December. The tournament season for all boys teams end in
June with a break from
 February 
                   to first of May for 16s & 18s only (high school age.)

       GIRLS:   Qualifiers, Mandatories, and Regionals. There is at least one tournament a month. 
Regionals for 
                   all teams are over a two-day weekend at the end of the season. Practices for 12s & 14s will 
                   start in November.  Practices for 15s, 16s, & 18s will start in December.  
The tournament season 
                   for all girls start in January and ends in June.

       All girls teams participate in the Volleyball Festival in Reno, NV at the end of June.  Only the 17’s/18’s 
       participate in the Las Vegas Classic in February (President’s weekend), if accepted.  Some girls teams 
       may participate in the Southern California Junior National Qualifier as well as other Junior National Qualifiers 
       such as Colorado Crossroads tournament and No Dinx Far Western tournament. 

       The boys teams participate in the Boys Holiday Classic and two Invitationals.  

       TRAVEL:
       
       BOYS & GIRLS:  SCVA tournaments are within a 2-hour driving radius from Los Angeles.  The parent and 
       or guardian is responsible to make sure the player is at all tournament sites.    

        GIRLS ONLY:   

-         San Diego (1 day tournament).  For 14s, 16s, & 18s only.  Parent/guardian is responsible for 
  transportation to the tournament site.

-         Las Vegas Classic (3 day tournament).  Ground and air transportation as well as food & lodging 
  will be arranged for the players by Protégé Volleyball Club.  The players will be staying together 
  as a team, which is fully supervised and chaperoned.  

-         Out of state Junior National Qualifiers (3 day tournaments).  Same as Las Vegas Classic.

-         Volleyball Festival (7 day tournament) - Mandatory for all teams.  Parent/guardian is responsible 
  for the transportation to and from the tournament.  Accommodations for food and lodging as well 
  as transportation will be arranged for the player by Protégé Volleyball Club.  The players will be 
  staying together as a team, which is fully supervised and  chaperoned  Our 12 & under team will 
  be going to Reno and staying with their parent/guardian.

       COST:

       The dues/fees vary per team and are subject to change due to the number of extra tournaments each 
       team participates in as well as the number of players and what age categories we have.  

                                                 ALL DUES/FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE

       All dues/fees include the following:

               -          Excellent training & coaching
               -    All registraton fees to USA Volleyball Association (USVBA) and to Southern California Volleyball
                    Association (SCVA).
               -    SCVA background check fees
               -          SCVA tournament entry fees
               -          Tournament entry fee to the Boys Holiday Classic, Boys Invitational, and the Jr. Boys Classic
               -          All registration fees to Volleyball Festival in Reno (girls only)
               -          Uniforms (two jerseys, shorts, two practice T’s, warm-ups, volleyball bag or backpack)
               -          Facility Rental (two weekly practices)
               -          Equipment
               -          Payroll & Administration
               -          Volleyball Festival Travel Expense (food, lodging, van rentals & misc, coaches stipend)

       Fund raising opportunities are available.  Fund raising to lower the cost of the dues/fees is a very 
       important part of Protégé Volleyball Club.  We believe in doing what we can to make it affordable for 
       each player chosen to be part of our program.  Being a non-profit organization as defined by the IRS,
       donations or contributions to our volleyball club are tax deductible.  

        The Commitment Deposit is due on:
                        Boys - all ages:  September 21st
 
                       Girls - 12s & 14s:   October 15th  
                                         15s & 16s:   November 23rd
                                         
17s & 18s:  November 30th

nline payment options will be available, with a small added service fee. We have a sibling discount.

       We guarantee to provide your son or daughter the best training in this great sport.  We train in all 
       positions and develop those positions of special interests to the player.
